The ideal new mom care box is more than just a delicious treat. It’s a game-changer. Here are a few unique ideas for making the ideal present for a new mother or father.
Bringing home a newborn baby is a wonderful thing, but it is also exhausting and overwhelming, especially for new moms! If you wish to make a new mom’s life a little more simple, a new mom care package is an excellent gift.
Baby blankets and adorable outfits are always fun for a new mom to receive but let’s think beyond those things and add practical but exciting essentials that a new mom can use and enjoy.
We really want to get things for mom, not baby at this point. Of course, the new bundle of joy deserves all the best under the sun, but this new mom has gone through a lot just to bring this little human into this world, and she also deserves some pampering, and it goes beyond chocolate and flowers too.
Chocolates and flowers are nice, but there are a lot more creative — and practical — ways to put together a new mom care package. Starting with the goods I wish had been waiting for me when I got home from the hospital, here’s how to put together the nicest present ever for a mom who has just given birth.

Creating A Mom Gift Basket
Your new mom care package doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be very simple because it doesn’t matter how fancy you make the “basket” or “box” the inner contents of said gift are the most important.
Things that make new mom life easier and make Mama feel pampered are awesome things to give to a new mom.
To make a helpful and useful gift for new moms, simply select a few items from this list and watch her glow with joy when you give it to her.
That’s fantastic news! It’s not necessary for a fantastic care gift to be attractively packaged or even in a basket. What important are the new mother’s presents inside!
Are they beneficial?
Is it true that they make her life easier?
Do they make her feel pampered or cared for?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’ve won.
Simply put together a selection of these new mom gifts to match your budget to create an excellent care box for new mums.
Your presents will be helpful, beneficial, and pampering if you apply these suggestions!
When To Give A Mom Her New Mom Care Package
Ideally, you’ll want to deliver your new mom care package to the new mom at the baby shower, when you meet the baby or anytime within the first two months of the baby’s life.
Keep your visits with baby nice and quick as new moms get tired, especially when visitors are popping in and out to check out an adorable baby.
You can also help a new mom out when you visit her home by holding the baby while she takes a shower or eats a healthy and hearty meal.
You can even wash her dishes and throw a load of laundry into the washer while you visit. Don’t ask, just do! She will love you for it.
Remember that the new mommy’s life is exhausting and very busy, so anything you can do to help the new mom out, is much appreciated.
Useful New Mom Gifts
New Pj’s: A new mom will probably not leave her pajamas for the first few weeks so having a large selection of clean and comfy pj’s will be a lifesaver for her.
Baby Book: If she didn’t get one for her baby shower, then you need to give this new mom a baby book so she can fill it with milestones and memories. She will always remember who gave her such a special gift, so you really cannot go wrong with a baby book! Here are my favourite baby books that we have used:
Amazon Gift Card: Your new mom’s friend is not leaving the house anytime soon, and shopping on Amazon will be a late-night treat. Help her out with some of the purchases she’s going to need to make by providing her with an Amazon gift card she can use right away.
She can also use her Amazon gift card for Amazon Home Services which does include house cleaning! Score.
Audible Membership: New moms are going to spend a lot of time in the middle of the night nursing baby and rocking her to sleep, and a bright phone screen isn’t an ideal friend at this point. Having a book on audible to keep her company will help with the postpartum loneliness.
Dry Shampoo: New moms do not get a lot of chances to take showers, and she can never have too much dry shampoo. Load her up if you can!
Healthy Snacks: Healthy snacks that don’t need to be refrigerated and can be stored in the nursing basket are going to be a lifesaver. Bonus if the snack can be eaten with one hand.
If you want her to pick her own food, just grab her a gift card to Instacart or a nearby grocery store.
Restaurant Gift Card: Your new mom may not be able to get a moment to actually sit down at a restaurant and eat for a while, but it is an amazing gift to be able to order your favourite meal and have it delivered to your door. You can also purchase skip the dishes credits for her so she can order a meal anytime, from the comfort of her home.
Oil Diffuser: There is nothing more calming than a little lavender oil in a diffuser. Help your new mom out by giving her a gift of calm amidst all her crazy.
Sleeping Mask: New moms and sleep are not going to be friends for a little while and while baby snoozes and the sun is out, it may be a nice idea for mom to catch a few ZZZ’s too. A nice weighted sleeping mask can help her relax and doze off, even if it’s just for a few moments.
Bath Products: When a new mom can get a bath in, she’s going to love you for thinking of amazing bath products for her. Pamper her with organic body butter, Lavender bubble bath and some organic body oil too.
Book: While an Audible membership is a great choice, sometimes a new mom loves a good book. After all, you can read a book with one hand! You can gift her “what to expect the first year” “You Are a F*cking Awesome Mom: So Embrace the Chaos, Get Over the Guilt, and Be True to You” “Cat and Nat’s Mom Truths: Embarrassing Stories and Brutally Honest Advice on the Extremely Real Struggle of Motherhood” or “Breathe, Mama, Breathe: 5-Minute Mindfulness for Busy Moms“
Baggy Sweater: Mama’s body will need time to recover and jeans and a t shirt are not going to be her “go-to” clothing items. It’ll be closer to maternity pants and baggy sweater. If this mom needs to leave the house to drop off a sibling at school, shes going to need a few baggy sweaters, so go ahead and grab her some!
Babysitting Pre Paid Services: If you can, or know someone who can baby sit the new baby while mom can have some time to herself, then by all means throw this in your care package. Sometimes an hour can give a new mom the energy she needs to keep being the best mommy in the world. You can DIY a cute coupon or find a sitter in her community and make an arrangement for services. Get creative!
Scented Candle: Whether you want to go with a real candle or something like Scentsy for your new mom, she sure will appreciate having something other than dirty diapers and baby poop to smell around the house. Just think, she can mask the smell of dirty dishes, and dirty laundry too!
All jokes aside, a candle can really help a new mom who is feeling less human as the days go on to be more lively.
New Water Bottle: Momma has to hydrate! Whether she is breastfeeding or not, she’s going to need to keep her hydration up because having a baby is exhausting and water will give her a little more energy. A water bottle is a good reminder to a new mom that she needs to keep up with her water intake. Mom’s do not prioritize self-care, and eating and drinking are one of those things that fall to the wayside when caring for a new baby.
Chocolate: A box of chocolates could go a long way for a recovering new momma. Classic sea shells or over the rainbow boxes are great choice, but you can always go a little more fancy if you wish.
Beauty Products: Help a new mom feel human again with some new makeup and a skin care routine. Sure, she might not use it for a few weeks, but once she’s ready she will appreciate it so much.
Lactation Cookies: If your new mom friend is going to be breastfeeding, some lactation cookies are a delicious and useful treat that she is sure to enjoy.
New Breast Pump: Help a new momma out and get her a new breast pump to assist her with her breastfeeding journey. Here are the best breast pumps for breastfeeding moms that you can choose from.
Yeti Mug: Moms can never get a full cup of hot coffee in because there is always something to do. A large Yeti mug can help her keep the coffee hot so she doesn’t always have to keep warming it up in the microwave all day long. Ask me how I know!
Pedicure Gift Card: Your new mom friend will sure appreciate a good pampering at a local salon with a proper pedicure after 9 long months of pregnancy. Heck, why stop at pedicure, if you have the means, grab her a haircut and a nail appointment too.
Bio Oil: If you’re going to DIY a new mom care package, add in some bio oil to help her oil that tummy after birth. taking care of skin is very important, especially after all it just went through.
Nipple Cream: Nipples can become very cracked, sore and bloody when a new mom is learning how to breastfeed. Nipple cream is a life saving product that doesn’t cost a lot, but means everything to a new momma.
Body Butter: Body butters are a rich and smooth option instead of a regular lotion to keep skin hydrated and glowing. Help a new mom feel better with this simple, yet satisfying new mom gift.
Wine: Does the new momma you know love her wine? Then get her a bottle of her favourite stuff. She hasn’t been able to drink a drop for 9 months, she sure would appreciate a bottle of wine.
Gifts For A Mom Of Twins
Twin Necklace: A special necklace to represent her new baby twins will light up her face and heart more than you can even imagine. This is a gift she will cherish forever.
Girls Night In: While this isn’t a gift you can purchase, giving a new mom of twins the gift of a girl’s night in will never be forgotten. She might not feel like herself after such a long labour and many sleepless nights, so do her a favor and give her the gift of worry-free fun.
Double Wall Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Stemless Wine Tumbler: Not sure there is much to say about this one, except that she definitely needs one of these bad boys.
